Operating as part of the Community Houses along Békési Road, the Fairytale House comprises adjoining 19th century peasant houses each with a veranda (“podsztyena” in Slovak) and an arched façade. Besides housing exhibitions and craft workshops, the Fairytale House is a unique cultural initiative intended to encourage child creativity. On display are a selected collection of the artist Mihály Schéner’s works spanning several decades, a collection of puppets made by Konrád Lenkefi, founder and artistic leader of the Napsugár (“Sunray”) Puppet Ensemble and, evoking the traditions of olden day Csaba, the interior of a pottery furnished with a collection of earthenware, tools and utensils from the estate of János Ványai, a potter in Békéscsaba.
