Élővíz canal

Elővíz Canal

Dug out by navies community work in 1777, the Élővíz (‘Living Water’) Canal was intended to help dry out the marshland here and get (floating) timber logs needed for construction via the canal from the Bihar Mountains. The canal originates from the Fehér Körös and flows into the Kettős Körös. Special pumps are used when water levels are high.

Beautiful part of the city, which is definitely worth visiting and don’t forget to take some bread with you for the ducks to feed.
